Air Rifle Rodent Control (ARRC) is a highly effective rodent management method widely used throughout Europe, particularly in areas where rodenticide use is heavily restricted or banned in favor of safer, alternative control methods.

ARRC utilizes highly trained marksmen equipped with precision PCP air rifles fitted with thermal or night vision optics to eliminate rats quickly and humanely in active infestation areas.

What precautions are taken to ensure safety?

Safety is the highest priority during every ARRC operation.

Local police notification before and after operations
Clearly marked work zones using cones, signs, and service vehicles

Use of backstops in sensitive locations when necessary

What happens after ARRC services are completed?

ARRC is designed to rapidly reduce rodent populations to manageable levels where conventional pest management methods can become effective again. After the operation:

Sanitation and exclusion efforts should be maintained
Follow-up services may be recommended to prevent rebound activity

How many services are required?

The number of services needed depends on several factors.

Initial population size
Nearby rodent pressure from neighboring properties
Food availability
Harborage conditions
Property sanitation

In many cases, between 50 and 80 rats can be eliminated during a single service. Properties with excessive clutter, debris, or active neighboring infestations may require additional treatments. While ARRC remains effective in cluttered environments, results improve significantly when harborage and hiding areas are reduced.

Is it legal?

Yes. In Massachusetts, air rifle use is legal for adults 18 and older, provided operators follow applicable laws and safety regulations, including restrictions against shooting from or across public roadways. Massachusetts General Law: Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 269 Section 12B.
